West Warwick man charged with drug trafficking, gun crimes

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. 

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a West Warwick man has been charged in Kent County Superior Court with drug trafficking and firearms-related crimes following his arrest on June 30, 2023, by West Warwick Police. 

On March 27, 2024, the Office of the Attorney General charged Reggie Jackson (age 42), by way of criminal information, with one count of possession of one ounce to one kilogram of fentanyl, one count of possession of one ounce to one kilogram of heroin, one count of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin, one count of possession of a firearm while possessing with the intent to deliver fentanyl and/or heroin, one count of possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a crime of violence, and one count of possession of a large capacity magazine.

As alleged in the criminal information, on June 30, 2023, members of the West Warwick Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team executed a court authorized search warrant at the defendant’s residence on Saint James Street in West Warwick. Upon entry, authorities detained the defendant and advised him of his constitutional rights. Detectives then asked the defendant if there were any narcotics inside the apartment, and the defendant told them that there was fentanyl inside one of his kitchen cabinets. 

As further alleged, after conducting a full sweep of the apartment, investigators seized a .308 caliber Ruger assault rifle, 12 large capacity magazines, approximately 137.47 grams of fentanyl, other quantities of suspected narcotics, digital scales, packaging materials, and a drug ledger, among other items.

The defendant is scheduled for arraignment on April 19, 2024, in Kent County Superior Court.
