On August 17, 2022, the Statewide Grand Jury returned a secret indictment charging Kane Loomis with one count of first degree child molestation.

The alleged act occurred in the town of Westerly sometime between May 1, 2021, and July 8, 2021. The Westerly Police Department conducted the investigation.

The indictment was unsealed and the defendant was arraigned on August 24, 2022, in Washington County Superior Court.
