Published on Friday, June 02, 2023

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a Burrillville man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with second-degree child abuse after surrendering himself to Burrillville Police on February 2, 2023.

On May 1, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged Kevin Pomfret (age 37), by way of criminal information, with one count of second-degree child abuse.

As alleged in the criminal information, the defendant strangled a victim under the age of 14 on or about January 10, 2023 in Burrillville, inflicting physical injury. The Burrillville Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on July 14, 2023, in Providence County Superior Court.
