Exeter man to serve more than four years in prison for child solicitation

Published on Wednesday, October 07, 2026

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha today announced that an Exeter man has been sentenced in Washington County Superior Court to serve 4.5 years at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) for soliciting a minor in 2022.

On October 5, 2026, Superior Court Justice Sarah Taft-Carter sentenced Lee Bromley (age 61) to 5 years with 4.5 years to serve at the ACI and 5 years of probation. Additionally, Judge Taft-Carter issued a no contact order between the defendant and the victim, issued a no trespassing order at the victim’s place of employment, and ordered that the defendant register as a sex offender.

On May 13, 2026, a jury found the defendant guilty of one count of indecent solicitation of a minor child to engage in prostitution.

“Every child deserves to grow up in a safe and secure environment,” said Attorney General Neronha. “Those that prey on the vulnerability of children cause pain that stays with victims far beyond their childhood. This victim demonstrated extraordinary courage in coming forward, and because he did so, this defendant will be held accountable. I thank the South Kingstown Police Department for their partnership in this case.”

During the trial, the State proved beyond a reasonable doubt that on August 22, 2022, the defendant solicited a male victim under the age of 18 who was not known to him outside of a business in Wakefield, where the victim was employed, for the purpose of sex.

Assistant Attorney General Mark Trovato of the Attorney General’s Office and Detective Sergeant Douglas K. O’Brien of the South Kingstown Police Department led the investigation and prosecution of this case.
