On April 19, 2024, the Newport County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jose Vega with five counts of first-degree child molestation.

The alleged acts occurred in the Town of Portsmouth on diverse dates between May 2, 2012, and May 2, 2017. The Portsmouth Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on April 25, 2024, in Newport County Superior Court.
