Interim Report of the Statewide Grand Jury

Having received approval from the Acting Presiding Justice of the Superior Court, the Office of the Attorney General today announced the following:

The Statewide Grand Jury investigated and reviewed the facts and circumstances of the death of Steven Velozo, age 47, on October 1, 2022, in Little Compton, Rhode Island, and determined that no criminal charges should be brought against any person.

Given Rhode Island law and procedure regarding grand jury secrecy, no further information regarding the proceedings before the grand jury will be forthcoming.
