On June 29, 2022, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jason Fernandes with one count of first-degree sexual assault.

The alleged act occurred in the city of Cranston sometime between November 1, and December 31, 2020. The Cranston Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on July 20, 2022, in Kent County Superior Court.
