On October 19, 2022, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Efrain Rivera with two counts of domestic first-degree sexual assault, two counts of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of domestic assault on a person over 60 years of age.

The alleged acts occurred in the town of Richmond sometime between October 1, 2021 and March 5, 2022. The Richmond Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is currently being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) and is scheduled to be arraigned on November 18, 2022, in Washington County Superior Court.
