PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Office of the Attorney General announced today that the Statewide Grand Jury has returned a “no true bill,” declining to charge Newport Police Detective Patrick Walsh, stemming from a use-of-force incident on June 26, 2022, on Thames Street in Newport.

Pursuant to the Attorney General’s Use of Force Protocol, the Office of the Attorney General, Rhode Island State Police, and the Newport Police Department investigated the incident.
