Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced today that a Pawtucket man has been found guilty in Providence County Superior Court of multiple counts of child molestation.
On June 26, 2025, following the conclusion of a six-day trial before Superior Court Justice Joseph A. Montalbano, a jury found Edwin Martinez (age 29) guilty of three counts of first-degree child molestation and three counts of second-degree child molestation.
The Court remanded the defendant to the ACI pending a sentencing hearing scheduled for September 29, 2025.
“These victims demonstrated exceptional bravery in coming forward, and throughout the investigation and prosecution of this case,” said Attorney General Neronha. “By creating safe environments for victims to tell their stories, we can bring more perpetrators to justice, thereby preventing further harm in our communities. I am grateful to the Pawtucket Police Department for their hard work on this difficult case, and to the jury for getting it right.”
During the trial, the State proved beyond a reasonable doubt that between 2010 and 2012, the defendant sexually assaulted a juvenile female victim, known to him, on multiple occasions. The State also proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant sexually assaulted a juvenile male victim, also known to him. Both assaults occurred at homes in Pawtucket.
“I thank our detectives and our partners at the Attorney General’s Office for their tireless effort in this investigation and prosecution,” said Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves. “I am grateful for the victims’ courage throughout this process, which allowed for justice to be served.”
Assistant Attorney General Shannon Signore and Special Assistant Attorney General Danielle Beauvais of the Attorney General’s Office and Sergeant Trevor Lefebvre of the Pawtucket Police Department led the investigation and prosecution of the case.
