North Smithfield woman charged with DUI, child endangerment

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

 

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a North Smithfield woman has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with driving under the influence with two child passengers stemming from a traffic stop in Smithfield in September 2023.

On November 17, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged Samantha Brown (age 30, P2-2023-3737A) by way of criminal information with two counts of child endangerment, one count of driving under the influence with a child under the age of 13 as a passenger and one count of possession of 10 grams or less of cocaine.

As alleged in the criminal information, on September 6, 2023, the defendant was arrested by members of the Smithfield Police Department following a traffic stop. It is alleged that the defendant drove her vehicle under the influence while two children were passengers. It is alleged that arresting officers found the defendant in possession of cocaine during the traffic stop..

The defendant is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on January 24, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.
