An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a Providence man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court for the attempted murder of several family members after his arrest by the Providence Police on October 21, 2022.
On April 21, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged Kevin Nuñez-Henriquez (age 28), by way of criminal information, with three counts of domestic assault with intent to murder, three counts of domestic assault and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, one count of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of domestic vandalism.
As alleged in the criminal information, on October 21, 2022, Providence Police were dispatched to a residence on Indiana Avenue after receiving several 911 calls indicating distress. When officers arrived on scene, they saw several seriously injured victims, one of whom identified the defendant as their attacker. Officers discovered the defendant standing inside the home with what appeared to be blood on his hands and clothes.
After officers ordered him to the ground, the defendant allegedly attempted to flee to the rear of the home, where he was apprehended by police. As alleged, officers found a bloody machete in the doorway of the residence, which the victims indicated was the defendant’s weapon.
The three victims were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for injuries.
The defendant is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on June 16, 2023 in Providence County Superior Court.
