Providence man charged with shooting ghost gun into neighbor’s apartment

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a Providence man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with firing a ghost gun through his bedroom floor and into a neighbor’s apartment on November 12, 2022. 

On August 24, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged Damien Brousseau (age 19), by way of criminal information, with one count of possession of a ghost gun and one count of firing in a compact area. 

As alleged in the criminal information, on November 12, 2022, Providence Police responded to a report of shots fired inside a residence on Smith Street. Upon arrival, two neighbors who lived on the second floor of the residence, described hearing a loud bang approximately three hours earlier, and brushed it off initially because they claimed the third-floor neighbor tended to be noisy. The tenants later found a bullet hole in the ceiling and the floor of a bedroom in their apartment, and at that time they contacted the police.

As further alleged, before investigators arrived on scene, patrol officers performed a protective sweep of the third floor and found a Polymer80 9mm ghost gun pistol in the defendant’s bedroom in plain view next to the bullet hole in his floor.

The defendant is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on November 9,  2023, in Providence County Superior Court.
