Providence man sentenced to 15 years for child molestation

Published on Friday, May 24, 2019

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that William Hudgins (age 30) of Providence was sentenced yesterday to 15 years after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree child molestation. Superior Court Justice Netti C. Vogel sentenced Hudgins to a 15-year full sentence, with six years to serve at the ACI, sex offender counseling, and is required to register as a sex offender.

Had the matter proceeded to trial, the State was prepared to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that sometime between January 1, 2016 and October 31, 2016, Hudgins molested an eight-year-old girl who was known to him. Hudgins was initially indicted by a Providence County Grand Jury on February 15, 2018 and has been held at the ACI since December 2, 2017.

Detective Koren Garcia led the investigation for the Providence Police Department and Special Assistant Attorneys General Bethany Laskowski and Jillian Dubois prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General.
