An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a West Warwick man has been charged in Kent County Superior Court with illegally possessing a semi-automatic handgun and 11 large capacity magazines following his arrest by the Rhode Island State Police (RISP).

On April 10, 2024, the Office of the Attorney General charged Martin McLintock (age 31), by way of criminal information, with one count of carrying a firearm in a vehicle without a license, one count of possession of large capacity magazines, and one count of possession of 10 grams or less of oxycodone.

As alleged in the criminal information, on October 14, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a RISP Trooper observed a black Jeep Laredo traveling northbound on Raccoon Hill Road. The trooper ran the Jeep’s license plate and found that its registration expired and had been suspended due to lapses in insurance. The trooper then conducted a motor vehicle stop and requested the driver’s license, registration, proof of insurance and informed him of the reason for the stop. After reviewing the documentation, the trooper determined that the driver’s license was also suspended.

As further alleged, after the towing service arrived on scene, the trooper asked the driver (the defendant) to exit the vehicle and advised him that the vehicle was to be towed and that an inventory search of his vehicle was going to be conducted. During a subsequent search of the defendant’s vehicle, troopers seized a backpack containing a tan 9mm Glock semi-automatic handgun, a 9mm Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun, 11 large capacity magazines, including four 31-round magazines and four 17-round magazines, and a prescription bottle containing oxycodone.

The defendant is scheduled for arraignment on April 26, 2024, in Kent County Superior Court.
