Attorney General Peter F. Neronha today announced an important next step in the Office's review of clergy child sexual abuse: a new Memorandum of Understanding between the Attorney General and the Diocese of Providence pursuant to which the Office and the Rhode Island State Police will gain access to all complaints and allegations of child sexual abuse by clergy dating back to 1950 – whether deemed credible by the Diocese or not.
As part of an ongoing review of allegations of clergy child sexual abuse within the Diocese of Providence, the Attorney General has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bishop of Providence that will provide access to Diocesan files and records dating back to 1950.
