Cold Case: Cynthia McKenna, 2007

On October 29, 2025, Attorney General Neronha announced an update in the cold case investigation into the murder of Cynthia McKenna in February 2007.

Case Summary

Date of incident
February 21, 2007

Description of incident
On February 21, 2007, North Providence Police Department responded to Cynthia McKenna’s North Providence apartment, where they found Cynthia unresponsive in her bed. The state medical examiner determined that Cynthia’s cause of death was asphyxiation due to blocked airways. Witness statements highlighted a tense relationship history between Cynthia and Robert J. Corry, Jr.

The Cold Case Unit's conclusion that Corry authored a confession letter, coupled with witness information and gaps in determining Corry's whereabouts at the time of the murder, establishes beyond a reasonable doubt that Corry murdered Cynthia.

Status
No criminal charges filed - Robert J. Corry, Jr. died in 2014.
