Cold Case Unit
The Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General’s Cold Case Unit works with local police departments to investigate and resolve unsolved homicides in the State. The Unit re-examines cases, strives to develop new witnesses and evidence, and uses modern technology to identify those responsible for homicidal violence. The Unit also investigates unidentified remains cases. The Cold Case Unit seeks to provide answers and justice for the victims, their families, and the people of Rhode Island.

Recent Solved Cases
Debra Stone, 1984
On September 2, 1984, Narragansett Police Department responded to the Narrow River in Narragansett, where boaters found Debra A. Stone’s body submerged. The state medical examiner determined that Debra’s cause of death was asphyxiation due to strangulation. Multiple witnesses noted that Debra had visited Robert D. Geremia in Johnston the night of August 29, 1984 – the last time Debra’s friends and family heard from her.
Cynthia McKenna, 2007
On February 21, 2007, North Providence Police Department responded to Cynthia McKenna’s North Providence apartment, where they found Cynthia unresponsive in her bed. The state medical examiner determined that Cynthia’s cause of death was asphyxiation due to blocked airways. Witness statements highlighted a tense relationship history between Cynthia and Robert J. Corry, Jr.
