Public safety is a critical part of our mission.

Rhode Island is one of only three other states (Alaska and Delaware being the other two) that share the same broad criminal mission. With no district attorneys, our Office prosecutes all felonies in the state, as well as a significant number of misdemeanors.

We target our resources to address the most violent criminals, while doing the daily work that is necessary to prosecute and help prevent crime in our state. We charge thousands of criminal cases every year in superior court and refer hundreds more to diversion.
