Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI)
The Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) is a critical function of our office, providing state and national background check services to the public, reviewing and issuing licenses for concealed carry permits in Rhode Island, and maintaining multiple law enforcement databases.
In addition, we have a total of six criminal investigators within BCI who are tasked with a wide array of duties involving the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases. These investigators, in addition to assisting prosecutors, are assigned to work on a part-time basis with federal law enforcement task forces. We also have an investigator assigned to focus on financial crime.
