Offshore Wind Cancellation

On June 2, 2026, a coalition of seven attorneys general filed a lawsuit in Washington, D.C., against the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) over its unlawful cancellation of a major offshore wind lease off the coast of New York. The coalition argues that DOI's March 2026 settlement agreement with TotalEnergies, which would cancel its two offshore wind leases in exchange for hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funds, violates federal law governing offshore wind leases and federal settlement payouts.
